Was there anything actually wrong with the names Avalon and Indigo?
There are enough TLAs already ..

Reminds me of IBM Communications Manager or Server or whatever the hell that was.
What was that?

As a programmer, I vow to use Indigo and Avalon instead of the "official" WCF/WPF -- who's with me?

I used to think that the all time grand prize for a stupid name change was when Borland changed to Inprise. But now it looks like Microsoft has surpassed them.

Windows Vista Beta News

The big news of the week is, of course, that Windows Vista Beta 1 has been released. In addition, IE7 Beta 1 was released as well. While I haven't installed either yet, this is definitely good news on the road...

I'm with Jeff on keeping the "unofficial" lame marketing glitzed names.
I saw a document on the Vista Developer center that looked like a dumb search-n-replace of "Avalon" to "Windows Presentation Foundation". Talk about a long-winded document after the replace!
I'm sticking with calling it Avalong and Indigo.

Thanks for the info. Added it to my weblog at http://www.dotnetjunkies.com/weblog/amar . I somehow would have preferred if such cool technology were not given such formal sounding names.
