Chuck Norris bested by "a lack of talent"

Here's the evidence.

Point 1: Now the data points are coming in that the lack of SOA talent is killing SOA. (via David Linthicum)

Point 2: SOA is the only thing Chuck Norris can't kill. (via the encyclopedia of SOA)

Conclusion: A lack of talent can achieve what Chuck Norris can't.

I guess Chuck Norris is just too talented to kill SOA.

Now thats good humor :-)

SOA may be (?) just a simple building block – just like a LEGO block. It is not about controlling the block - but controlling what it can build, or even more, what the build was prior.

Don-- Maybe you need to get back into the 'real world' for a bit and start training again? I definitely think you'd have a chance at improving the situation.

Looks to me most of SOA, Java and .NET is about to fall apart in my world, no wonder how much GC, objects, and hacks are around to make a better Java.

Chuck said, breaks all over the place, with Fatal Execution Engine error and RAM explosion and CPU suffering for most trivial things.

Should have seen this coming, but idealistically or not, it is time to move on.

I guess reality is kicking in.

I compare the SOA frenzy in this decade to the OO frenzy in the 80's or UML in the 90's:

- Big fuzz (visionaries establish mainline concepts)
- Early adopters (talented people that see value, tools are scarce)
- Opportunistic adopters (not-so-talented people that see a bigger paycheck, jump without understanding; better tools).
- Widestream adopters.

All of these stages take years in the real-world environment, and realistic adoption in a development shop takes time and talent. Heck, we have problems just hiring people in our shop (regardless of talent).

From a business perspective, why should a development shop invest its development dollars on SOA when something already works? If YOU were to pay for adopting SOA in your company, how would you justify such decision?

I see SOA as a _good thing_, but for the right reasons.

15 new facts now on SOAFacts, including this one:

"SOA is dead" - Nietzsche, "Nietzsche is dead" - SOA, "No, SOA is getting killed by a lack of SOA talent." - Don Box, "No, SOA is getting killed by a lack of SOA interest" - SOAFacts.

You would be suprise to know that Chuck Noris can kill SOA at any time.
But Chuck, Bruce Lee, Dan Inosanto, Bob Wall, Gig Young, Mel Novak and me have not decided that was the time.

So we wait. We have patience.

COM is love. COM+ was a dream. .NET is a women.
SOA is a son of the beast (Amiga's game)
SOA is slow and so high level. Even IT Directory can understand it so it is no funny.

SOA is cool for poor IT Consultant.
SOA approcah to play lego:
1° bring the table
2° put all on the tables
3° sort the blue one
4° sort the red one
5° destroy the other
6° put your hand on the table and play....
7° put the red on the table
8° put the blue on the read
9° call mum
10° receive a kiss
SOA is a slow and fat machine. It looks like IBM blue tuxedo. Agile @ 1/20
Smart @ 2/20
Clever for IT People higher that $250 per hour.

But, take a kid.
Give it the lego game.
Look in its eyes.
He will play without these ugly rules.

Kids rules:
- have fun
- have leisure time
- being the king for parents

so, SOA is not fun.
The problem is my dauther talks me about WSDL and it hurts a lot.
Learn COM baby..... its' love !

MMC is your mum
ATL Server is dad
Herb is god
Keith Brown is Evil
Matt P. is Attila
Don is a liquor salesman, you is the father of love.... so you should have a "statue" in every IT library
Chris Sells is the Marquie (de sade ?)
MSDN is rome.
Steve is a child.
Ray is the Director of God
Bill is the Chairman of the Foundation
Chuck was beaten by Bruce but were friends.
Bob Wall is the world champion.

God save us from IBM and Java folks.
Have fun.
