Karl Rove and Dick Cheney join the REST fray

I found this post on the REST newsgroup amusing. My favorite quote on having a Sun-led JSR in this space:

This is like asking Karl Rove and Dick Cheney to write the Democratic Party platform.

The quote would make more sense if it was IBM leading the charge.

More to the point, having the stewards of the 310 preceding JSRs doing this is more like asking Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld to architect the US Iraq strategy.

Either way, best of luck to all involved. Anything that makes the life of a developer more humane is goodness in my book.

Um, given how terrified the Democrats are of not seeming bellicose enough, not to mention all the cowardice perpetrated in the name of bipartisanship, to all intents and purpose Rove and Cheney *do* write the Democratic Party platform.

More like Rove and Cheney asking for help to defeat the insurgency they have been hoping would go away.

I may join the WG, if only to keep the result as far away from JAX-WS as humanly possible.

Nothing bad ever comes from doubling down.

Its pretty sad that you resort the sort of politcal post-trash that I can find anywhere on anyone else's blog, trashing peple AS IF the "other side" is any better. Last visit for me.

Funny, wasn't SOAP a misleading a term as any Rovian/Luntzian catchphrase for promoting some irrational construction.

It was my job go through the SOAP spec around the time Microsoft took ownership of it and explain it to others at the little company I worked at.
Very quickly the dumbfounded questions came up:
so the spec doesn't cover objects?; so why is it called simple object oriented protocol?

Wow that version of the soap spec was a consciously misleading mess.
Don Box then became a Microsoft PR man and it seemed everything that came out of his mouth was just as misleading.

Microsoft: Sure it took us a decade to add a TCP/IP stack to our operating system, we know better -- it's size that matters not innovation.
