Vista + WindowsKey-S + OneNote 2007

I'm always looking for better ways to capture my research so that it's easily accessible, re-organizable, searchable, etc. For some time I have used a local wiki editing the files in emacs because it was easy to create interlinked documents, searchable, and moderately re-organizable. I almost started using OneNote at one time, but the last time I looked at it there was no support for linking pages (which was a critical feature for me). I just installed OneNote 2007 on Vista and I have to say, I'm sold. You can now create linked pages easily, which is really nice. However, the feature that really sold me was - WindowsKey+S. If you have Vista installed, try it - you get a nice screen capture of whatever you select, and if you have OneNote 2007, it drops it into a new note - sweet!

yeah, that's nifty! Even if you don't have OneNote, it's a whole lot better than taking a complete screen grab and editing in MS Paint!

I love the WindowsKey+S feature myself. I use it all the time. It has been there since OneNote 2003. I have OneNote 2003 installed which allows me to do screen captures using WinKey+S. Anything I select ends up on the clipboard as well as on a new OneNote.

I hope all applications would work seamlessly in the new Microsoft OS. I just installed Vista in my new desktop and so far things are great. I had some problems finding the apppropriate drivers for some of my peripherals, but luckily I found http://www.radarsync.com/vista which has all the Vista drivers. I hope every issue hounding Vista would soon be addressed and solved.

Window Key+S is a OneNote specific short-cut, independent of operating system. It also works on Windows XP.

i had a virus so i had to wipe my harddrive, but before it the windows logo+s selection worked, and when i fixed my computer it worked, but just recently i noticed that it doesnt.. i dont know why and i need it to work since its really easy to help make my notes amazing in bio (lol like taking the picture from out online text book and putting it in my notes). does anyone know how to get it to work again?
