That's right, we have yet another new name for SQL Server Everywhere. And here it is (drum roll)…

SQL Server Compact Edition

Yes the old is new again - the new name is the same name that they changed from a little over a year ago and it's the same name that the product had for nearly 5 years before that. J Seriously, the SQL Sever Everywhere name was creating a great deal of confusion so choosing a new name does make sense (I wonder how much this whole name thing has cost?).

Don't worry, this isn't a throw-back to being a Windows Mobile based product. It's still a multi-platform product that supports desktop computers, laptops, tablets and Windows Mobile devices. The change is in name only And one good thing about the name change is that System.Data.SqlServerCe is again the correct name for the managed library. J
