It turns out that I jumped the gun on posting the download URLs. I inadvertently posted the download URLs before I should have.

See you on Monday.

Nice but not a "must have"... At the moment there exists no real world application which uses SQL Mobile Edition...!?

There are many, many "real world" applications using SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition and it's predecessor SQL Server CE 2.0.

I personally have been building real applications using those products for 4+ years.

Have you had a negative experience with the product?

Homer;

My goal on this blog is not to convince people that they should or should not use a particular Microsoft product. I'm simply sharing my experiences and trying to help people navigate their way through the good and bad of the Windows Mobile technical world. Please don't think me rude but I don't work for Microsoft and I don’t want to give the appearance that I do.

To get information on real-life projects that use SQL Server Compact Edition your best bet is to hit the Microsoft Case Studies Site (http://www.microsoft.com/casestudies/) and search for Microsoft .NET Compact Framework case studies and Windows Mobile case studies. There's no specific list of SQL Server Compact Edition case studies as far as I know but those 2 categories will give you several hundred case studies many of which use SQL Server Compact Edition or it's predecessors (SQL Server CE & SQL Server Mobile Edition).

You also might wanna check out the SQL Server Compact Edition Discussion board (https://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=152&SiteID=1). The discussion board will let you reach people who are using the product and might be able to share the details of their projects.

I hope this gives you what you're looking for. I'm not trying to avoid your question I just don't have permission from my clients to discuss specific projects.

Hi,

are there non-MS information available about real world products using SQL CE?

Thx!

hfr;

I don't really know. Maybe there's an independent user group or similar but I just don't know.

You might want to try posting a question to the SQL Server Compact Edition discussion list: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=152&SiteID=1 - maybe you can get some independent input there.
