What's Keith up to?

Security Briefs

November was pretty crazy getting ready for Campsight (which was a spectacular success), and I spent most of December either consulting for Microsoft or spending time with the family, who have been neglected way too much during the startup phase of this new company!

To begin the new year, I've got a number of projects underway:

I'm working on a new week-long security class (we should have a module outline up on the server real soon now).

I'm preparing for Campsight II, which is happening at the Redmond Town Center Marriott (it's an awesome venue if you've never been to Redmond - loads to do when you get done with class in the evenings). As usual, we'll be weaving security topics throughout the entire week, which covers contract-first web service development, BizTalk, ASP.NET 2.0 (we're adding coverage of SharePoint) among a host of other topics. But we'll also have some modules that are dedicated entirely to the topic of security, covering such tricky issues as Kerberos delegation and protocol transition in Windows Server 2003. The last event sold out, so sign up today!

I'm writing several security-related articles for the Smart Client dev center, and continuing to write Security Briefs for MSDN Magazine. The next column to be published focuses on some work I've done integrating the GUI ACL Editor into managed code.

During January, I'll undertake a brief consulting project that will attempt to integrate the .NET Framework into some rather low-level security plumbing in Windows. Due to an NDA, I'm not sure how much I“ll be able to talk about it, but it looks to be a very interesting little project. More on it later, if I can say anything.

Oh, and my security clearance for the US Govt. is about to go through, so pretty soon I'll be teaching classes for some agencies whose names I'm not yet even allowed to know!

With all the prospects we're looking at, Pluralsight is set for a very strong year. Thanks to all who have supported us so far!
