Information cards for consumers, take two

Vittorio responds to my question about information card landing pages by pointing me to the recently released document, Patterns for Supporting Information Cards at Web Sites: Personal Cards for Sign up and Signing In. This is very helpful information, and should come in handy for anyone who is currently implementing CardSpace. Thanks for the link!

I don't know if this is precisely what I was looking for, however. Sure, guidance on writing up some text of my own describing the idea behind information cards is important for my website, but it seems as though having a landing page on the web where non-technical folks can go to learn about this would be good (there are already many places for techies like me to go - I'm thinking about my mother here). Would Microsoft be willing to host such a site?

OpenID does a much better job at explaining itself (e.g. http://openid.net/about.bml). The whole Information Card space looks to be in the early stages and not really consumer ready. Kim mentioned that Windows Live ID will adopt information cards later this summer. I bet that will spawn a bunch of copywriting around what an information card is and how to use it.

I wouldn't put sole ownership of writing consumer material on Microsoft though. As you notied the information card infrastructure is bigger than MS. That being said, they are one of the better funded companies running with it at the moment. Too bad Wikipedia is too technical to reference (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I-Card).

Worth noting - InformationCard.net is owned by Microsoft. :)

Rest assured we'll be readying consumer-ready content and resources for CardSpace and information cards over the next 12 months.
