I'm not in Oregon :-(

I'm saddened to hear via a comment on my previous entry that I'm NOT in Oregon, I'm still in Washington. This means that despite visiting the US since 1995 and visiting on a regular basis since 1998, I've never been to Oregon… I don't have anything against Washington, it's a very beautiful state, I was just so much looking forward to finally visiting Oregon.

Don't despair, from this bank you have a very nice view of the Oregon side of the gorge - actually, the oregon cliff is much more spectacular than the washington side. Being a north face, it is more shaded and gets more precipitation, which makes it green and steep, as opposed to the Washington side, which exposure to the sun has somehow eroded much faster, and is kind of bare...

There's a good chance you crossed into Oregon on your way here. The fastest way to get here it to cross over to Oregon and take the big freeway down the river and then take the rickity bridge of the gods bridge back across to Washington. But the two lane highway on the Washington side goes over Cape Horn which is one of the cooler drives I've ever been on.

Do you know I often ask the same question about where you are, don't worry you are like a homing pigeon you always seem to work out how to get back even if you don't know where you are!
