No, I've not left Microsoft, but I do have a new role; I'm now a Program Manager on the IndigoWindows Communication Foundation product team. More specifically, I'm a PM on the Security Team focusing on the area of Authorization. I've actually been in this role since late May but it just got announced internally, so I figure it's OK to blog about it now…
I now report to Doug Purdy which is cool. Doug is an
über PM on IndigoWCF, there's not much in the product on the XML Messaging side that Doug doesn't have some current involvement in or had some involvement in in the past. This is just one reason he's a great guy to have as my manager. Another reason is that whenever I ask him, 'How are you?', he invariably replies 'If I was any better, I'd be you', which always makes me feel great :-)
Doug (and other members of my team) are helping me adapt to the role of being a PM on a feature team, which requires a somewhat different set of skills than my previous roles. Not completely different, but nevertheless I still have stuff I need to learn.
All in all I'm very pleased with my new role and am already enjoying the challenge it provides.
