Five intensive days learning the ins and outs of .NET 2.0 and ASP.NET 2.0

Hit the ground running after spending 5 extended days learning the fundamentals of building Web applications with ASP.NET, C#, and the .NET platform. This course brings the experienced developer up to speed on the .NET platform. The first half of the course covers the fundamentals of .NET from bottom to top, including assemblies, types, reflection, and the base class libraries. Emphasis is placed on building component-based applications, with coverage of .NET features up to and including the 2.0 release of the framework. The second half of the course covers the details of building Web applications with ASP.NET, one of the most productive environments for building Web applications today. The course covers topics ranging from Web forms to state management, with emphasis on many of the new time-saving features introduced in the 2.0 release of the framework.

Who Should Attend

Developers who are new to .NET and are interested in learning ASP.NET and web development with the 2.0 release of the framework.

Prerequisites:

We assume you’ve had some experience programming Windows using C++ or Visual Basic, and are familiar with fundamental concepts such as processes and DLLs. The interop module assumes a basic knowledge of COM. Some experience with Web and database programming is helpful but not strictly required.

What you should expect to learn:

This course is designed to get you up to speed quickly on fundamental concepts in the CLR that all developers should be familiar with, including assembly versioning, deployment, interop, garbage collection, and so on. It emphasizes version 2.0 of the .NET Framework, and where appropriate, discusses the differences from version 1.1. You’ll not only learn the basics, but you’ll be introduced to some of the most popular features provided by the .NET Framework 2.0 class library, including security, ADO.NET, and XML. You’ll leave with a solid foundation to get started programming on virtually any project with the .NET Framework.

During the second part of the course, you will learn how to build robust, feature complete Web applications with ASP.NET 2.0. You will take away many practical samples, and have a good understanding of when to use which features of the new framework.
