
Joe is an author, consultant and teacher in Computer Science, specializing in Microsoft technologies since 1992. He is well-versed in the Microsoft platform, including the desktop (WinForms), the web (ASP.NET and Ajax Extensions for ASP.NET), language integrated query (LINQ), high-performance computing (MPI, OpenMP, and Windows Compute Cluster Server), the .NET framework, and its most popular languages (C++, C# and VB). He has co-authored two books on Windows development, hosted more than 60 MSDN webcasts for Microsoft, and taught courses worldwide. Joe holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine (hence his moniker "dr joe"), is a tenured professor of Computer Science, and has numerous research publications in the fields of compiler optimization and CS education.
Joe resides in the Chicago area with his wife Marybeth and daughter Dai-lin, along with Calico (their Dalmatian) and Archimedes II (their sailboat).
