Just last month we heard that companies were expected to increase their IT budgets for 2015, and it looks like those boosts are already underway. According to the 2015 Salary guides from Robert Half Technology and The Creative Group, companies are as keen as ever on hiring for tech and creative roles. Not only are these organizations embracing the benefits of big data, but they’re also putting more money into digital initiatives and replacing old ways of advertising with new, interactive campaigns to drum up new business.

What it means for you

If you have the right skills and experience, you could be looking at a pretty serious paycheck. Need proof? The survey highlights six positions that are expected to see a rise in starting salaries this year. Here they are: RHT-TCG_0115_High_Paying_Careers "Businesses are investing more dollars in mobile and big data initiatives, and they need skilled technology and creative professionals to support these efforts," said John Reed, senior executive director of Robert Half Technology and The Creative Group, in a company release.

Need more motivation?

If that’s not enough to get you moving, consider that there’s never been a better time to go for it. Remember, your skills are hotter than ever right now, especially if you've been keeping up on your training. While it can be easy to get hung up on the competitive nature of the tech world, don't forget that plenty of companies are hurting for the right talent. Reed also points out in the release that recruiting for digital skills "continues to be a challenge as demand exceeds supply. When firms identify promising candidates, they need to hire quickly and be prepared to extend compensation and benefits packages that beat what competing firms are willing to offer."

Landing the job

Of course, it helps if you already have a world of experience under your belt. But whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned pro, it never hurts to brush up on those skills. If you haven't yet checked it out, take some time to look through our course library, where you'll find everything you need to help you land one of the six high-paying tech jobs for 2015. While you're at it, don't forget to update that resume (for each different company you're contacting!) and practice those interviewing skills. Good luck!
