Spider-Man Swings into the Marvel Cinematic Universe

‌‌
Marvel Studios announced today that its struck a deal with Sony Entertainment to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Marvel the plan will be a tit-for-tat where the iconic web-slinger first makes his appearance within a Marvel film. Then Sony's next installment in its most profitable franchise will feature the Marvel heroes making cameos in Spider-Man's cinematic turf. Sony Pictures will retain control over finance, distribution, and final creative control over the Spider-Man films. Heading up the July 2017 film will be Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago."We always want to collaborate with the best and most successful filmmakers to grow our franchises and develop our characters," states Sony CEO Michael Lynton, "Kevin Feige and Amy...are the perfect team to help produce the next chapter of Spider-Man. This is the right decision for the franchise, for our business, for Marvel, and for the fans." The Spider-Man character has represented a constant presence within the Marvel Universe for over 50 years, and fans have been eagerly awaiting his inclusion in the popular Marvel Superheros world. The desire to see Spidy take his rightful place has been the debate of many fans who find many of the films lacking in appeal or adherence to the comic book character.
