"From a business perspective, the primary role of F# has been to reduce the time-to-deployment for analytical software components, which have been primarily deployed in the finance and insurance industries, but there are more opportunities, especially for data scientists and researchers dealing with a number of large data sets, cloud computing resources and machine learning techniques. " -- Microsoft's Press Announcement
The announcement from Microsoft Research came yesterday at the POPL conference in Rome, Italy. Try F# includes a number of new resources for developers interested in learning more about the F# language, most notably a web based tool for interactively developing and sharing code.
"But Try F# is much more than a set of tutorials. It lets users write code in the browser and share it with others on the web to help grow a community of F# developers." - F# Blog Post
You can try F# for yourself at www.tryfsharp.org.
