Pitch your big idea for the chance to win up to $50K
We’re hosting our second annual Create the Future awards, giving future-focused organizations the chance to pitch their products or services in front of a panel of industry experts and venture capitalists and win big.
The passionate, innovation-driven companies we select as finalists will present to our audience at LIVE before participating in a short Q&A with judges. Winners will be announced later at the conference on the main stage.
A company’s product or service must be demonstrable. (i.e. Past the idea phase)
The company must not have raised over $10M from combined funding sources.
Founders of the company applying must retain some portion of ownership in the company.
The company must be based in the United States.
Each company may only enter one product or service into Pluralsight’s Create the Future Awards.
A company that enters more than one product or service will not be eligible to participate in Pluralsight’s Create the Future Awards.
Each applicant is only eligible to enter one of the Create the Future Awards applicant categories
WHEN IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE?
Submissions must be entered by July 14, 2019, 11:59 p.m. MST. Only complete submissions will be considered.
HOW MANY PRODUCTS/SERVICES CAN I SUBMIT?
Each entrant will be allowed to submit only one product/service. Entrants who enter more than one product/service will not be eligible to participate.
HOW ARE THE ENTRIES SCREENED?
A committee of technology experts will screen each application to ensure the applications meet all requirements and rank each entry according to the judging criteria outlined above.
HOW AND WHEN WILL FINALISTS BE SELECTED?
Finalists will be reviewed by a judging committee of technology experts and selected based on the judging criteria outlined above. All 6 finalists (3 from each category) will be notified by August 14, 2019.
DURING THE PRESENTATION TO THE JUDGES, HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN BE ON STAGE PRESENTING?
Each participating entrant will be allowed one representative to present to the judges and one additional person to control the presentation. Pluralsight will not provide staff to support you with your stage presentation.
WHAT PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED?
There will be one grand prize winner in the Tech for Good category, one grand prize winner in the Disruptive Tech category, and one Audience Choice winner voted on by our LIVE attendees.
In addition, all six finalists will receive:
Two (2) complimentary registrations for Pluralsight LIVE 2019
Dedicated space in our Pluralsight LIVE Exchange ($20,000 value)
Travel and accommodations for two
Two (2) one-year subscriptions to Pluralsight
Travel and hotel expenses include airfare to/from SLC International Airport and ground transportation between SLC International Airport and Grand America Hotel (Pluralsight LIVE event location) for two (2) individuals. Hotel accommodations include basic room fees for two (2) individuals at Grand America Hotel. Meals are provided for all attendees at Pluralsight LIVE.
Most importantly, finalists will receive exposure to the Pluralsight LIVE audience looking out for the latest in cutting-edge technology.
WHAT ABOUT MY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY?
You, the applicant, are solely responsible for protecting your intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, etc.) in your idea. If you think you have intellectual property rights or you might want to patent your idea someday, it is strongly recommended that you consult an attorney before disclosing this information in your application.
Applicants are expected to submit a compelling presentation without disclosing critical intellectual property. By submitting an application, you acknowledge that applying for the Create the Future Awards could result in disclosure of your intellectual property if such information is included in your application.
Pluralsight is not in a position to protect or advise you on your intellectual property rights and does not take any responsibility for doing so. Additionally, Pluralsight does not require non-disclosure agreements or other confidentiality obligations from anyone involved in the Create the Future Awards process. However, Pluralsight retains the right to promote semifinalist and finalist business names, logos and products/services in conjunction with the Create the Future Awards.

I’M NOT READY TO GIVE UP EQUITY IN MY COMPANY. CAN I STILL APPLY TO THE “DISRUPTIVE TECH” CATEGORY?
By submitting an application to the Disruptive Tech category, you agree to the predetermined investment terms and conditions outlined in these Terms and Conditions, should you be selected as the category winner.
IF I’M SELECTED AS A FINALIST, HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO PRESENT?
Each finalist will have five minutes to present their product/service and three minutes of Q&A with a panel of judges.
WHO ARE THE CREATE THE FUTURE AWARDS JUDGES?
Each of our judges is an industry expert in venture capitalism, technology, or tech for good and will not be the same as those who are involved in the screening process.
WHO CAN ATTEND THE CREATE THE FUTURE AWARDS SESSION?
The Create the Future Awards session is open to all Pluralsight LIVE attendees, but will not be open to the general public.
CAN I TALK ABOUT FUNDRAISING IN MY PRESENTATION?
Participating entrants should not mention anything about their fundraising activities and plans in their presentations and presentation materials. Examples include: whether the company is fundraising, how much a company has raised, financial projections, and terms of offering. Please reserve all conversations about fundraising to private one-on-one meetings with known accredited investors.
Due to the new rules under the JOBS Act regarding general solicitation, Pluralsight requires that participating companies rely upon SEC Rule 506(b) (i.e., not use the event’s general solicitation to offer or sell securities).
