This course, Data Strategy = Business Strategy: Executive Briefing, will help you begin to put substance behind this elusive phrase and form the vision for weaving data into the fabric of your company. First, you’ll explore why the concept of “having a strategy for data” is not just wordplay, but fundamental to seeing how the work of every employee with transform. Data is as much a cultural issue as it’s technical. Next, you’ll learn the outdated notion of “IT owns the data.” IT may be responsible for aspects of working with data, but the company owns the data. That means each employee is responsible for data and must clearly understand their role. Finally, you’ll hear about some of the key considerations to executing your strategy. You must examine technical and business skills, work processes, organization structure, getting buy-in to changing the essence of the company. When you’re finished with this course, you’ll have the skills and knowledge of forming a data strategy that has the potential transform your company and its people.
