What you'll learn

In this series of lessons, we will be focusing on developing a male character concept for sculpting in 3D. We'll begin the process with basic lines and simple shapes as we develop both the pose and anatomy for our character. We'll gradually refine this detail as we begin to think about his wardrobe, accessories and other details. After we finish our character sketch, we'll begin preparing it for color by refining our line work, masking off our painting area and discussing a few custom brushes. We'll then begin painting our character starting with the mid-tones and then moving into the shadows. To wrap things up we'll explore applying textures to various parts of the character as well as highlights. Software required: Photoshop CS5.
