Create Automation for Building Infrastructure with Gradle and Terraform

Hey, Gurus! Welcome to the lab. In this lab, you will be using the Terraform Gradle plugin to create infrastructure in AWS in your Gradle build that will allow you to deploy infrastructure as well as use that infrastructure for your Java app build. Let's get started.

  1. Challenge

    Create the Gradle Project and Configure

    In your terminal:

    1. Configure the AWS CLI.
    2. Install SDKMAN using the curl command provided.
    3. Install Java.
    4. Install Gradle.
    5. Create the guru_tf project directory.
    6. Move into the guru_tf directory.
    7. Initialize the guru_tf directory to build the scaffolding for the project.
  2. Challenge

    Modify the Terraform Configuration

    In your terminal:

    1. Move the files found in the gradle_lab/terraform directory to the guru_tf directory.
    2. Add the src directory to your build.
    3. Modify the build file and add the Terraform Gradle plugin and the source directory for your Terraform files.
  3. Challenge

    Deploy the EC2 Instance with Terraform and Gradle

    In your terminal:

    1. Initialize your Terraform directory using the Gradle Terraform init task.
    2. Use the Gradle Terraform apply task to deploy the infrastructure.
    3. Confirm that the infrastructure has been created.
    4. Use the Gradle Terraform destroy task to destroy the infrastructure.
