Migrating BLOB Data in a MySQL Database to S3
In this lab, we will migrate BLOB data stored in a relational database table to S3. We will then update that table, replacing the binary data with references to the location of the files in S3.

Challenge
Extract BLOB Data from MySQL Database
Either using the script provided in the
helper/
directory or with your preferred method, extract the BLOB data from thefile_data
column and save the data into the appropriately named files from thefile_name
column of thejohnselfie.selfies
table. -

Move Extracted Files to S3
Move the extracted files to the
media/
prefix of the S3 bucket provided in the environment. -

Update Database or Code with S3 URIs
Drop the
file_data
column from thejohnselfie.selfies
tables, and either:- Replace it with a new
file_data
column, and add the appropriate data to this column. - Update the application code to deterministically generate the correct URI for each file referenced in the database.
