Startup Santa: books for children in need

Do you have fond memories from your childhood of cracking open a new book and getting lost in the story for the first time? Did it inspire you? Teach you something? Make you laugh?

At Pluralsight, we often ask our teams to read books together as a way to connect and learn something new. We take pride in being lifelong learners, and we believe in helping inspire the next generation of passionate people.

That’s why we’re excited to participate in the first-ever Startup Santa drive to collect books for children in need in our HQ state of Utah. There’s just one book for every 300 children from low-income families in our state. We’re also lagging behind in childhood literacy rates. So this holiday season, we want to do something about it.

This endeavor means a lot to me because it’s headed up in part by the Start Foundation, a new nonprofit that I’m proud to join as Chairman. Start Foundation’s aim is to help support and grow Utah’s booming tech community by advocating for innovation, building relationships among entrepreneurs and creating programs to support the state’s youngest minds.

How can you help? We’re urging Pluralsight fans and employees and other Utah startups to help fill our bookshelf. Tweet the name of your favorite children’s book with #StartupSanta and tag @Pluralsight. We’ll track it down and add it to our shelf, and once it’s filled up, we’ll donate the books to the United Way through the Startup Santa program.

We hope you’ll join us in sharing our love of reading this season!
