Course Overview Hi everyone. My name is Andrew Brust, and welcome to my course, AWS Big Data: The Big Picture. I am CEO and founder at Blue Badge Insights. I also write about data and analytics for ZDNet and cover the same space as an analyst for GigaOm. Big data, data lakes, and analytics are everywhere and are especially prominent in the cloud. With that in mind, understanding the major big data services on the world's most popular cloud is essential. In this course, we are going to gain an overview of Amazon's most important big data services then we'll drill down and learn more about each one and how they integrate. We'll discuss the capabilities of each service and their technological underpinnings, and we'll even demo some of these services to make everything concrete. Some of the major topics that we will cover include big data and data warehousing principles, open source big data technologies, Amazon's major big data services, and Amazon's data integration services. By the end of this course, you'll know the names, major capabilities, and inter-service integrations of each of the major big data services on Amazon Web Services. Before beginning the course, you should have high-level familiarity with databases and know a little bit about querying data with SQL. I hope you'll join me on this journey to learn all about analytics in the cloud with the course, AWS Big Data: The Big Picture, at Pluralsight.
