Description

Project teams come together to accomplish unique objectives and create new value. What’s more often left unsaid is that projects inevitably come to an end once that work is complete, and managing that period of conclusion is essential to ensuring the hard work pays off. In this course, Closing out Project Work, you’ll learn how to know when project work is complete and how to validate that project results are acceptable to key stakeholders. First, you’ll explore how to transfer the value your team has created on to project beneficiaries in a smooth and efficient fashion. Next, you’ll discover why it’s important to take time to reflect on what has been accomplished. Finally, you'll learn how to capture lessons that can benefit your team and organization in the future, and take time to secure those lessons for future use. By the end of this course, you’ll understand how to handle the period that most clearly distinguishes project work from other kinds of tasks: bringing your work to a successful conclusion.

Course Overview
Hi everyone. My name is Casey Ayers, and welcome to my course, Closing out Project Work. Project teams come together to accomplish unique objectives and create new value. What's more often left unsaid is that projects inevitably come to an end once that work is complete, and managing that period of conclusion is essential to ensuring the hard work done pays off. In this course, you'll learn how to know when project work is complete and how to validate the project results are acceptable to key stakeholders. Then, you'll learn how to transfer the value your team has created onto project beneficiaries in a smooth and efficient fashion. After that, you'll learn why it's important to take time to reflect on what's been accomplished, capture lessons that can benefit your team and organization in the future, and take time to secure those lessons for future use. By the end of this course, you'll understand how to handle the period that most clearly distinguishes project work from other kinds of tasks, bringing your work to a successful conclusion. Experience in project environments in some capacity, either as a leader or team member who aspires to lead teams in the future, will help you to best relate to the content we'll discuss. This course is the completing chapter of our series here at Pluralsight on Project Management Skills, which can help you prepare for the PMP exam and other certifications, as well as earn continuing education credit toward project management certifications. It's a great resource even if you're just looking to learn more about project management as well. I hope you'll join me in exploring how you can bring your initiatives to a successful conclusion with Closing out Project Work, here at Pluralsight.
