Idea Generation
Hi, my name's Mark Heath, and welcome to this Pluralsight course on Creating and Selling a Digital Product. In this first module, I'll be explaining what this course is all about, and then we'll get stuck straight in and start looking at how you can generate great ideas for products you can build and sell yourself. So what's this course all about? Well, my goal is to provide an absolute beginner's guide to how you can create a digital product and then navigate the rather daunting prospect of actually selling it to people. Maybe you've thought about doing this in the past, but you've backed out because you doubted your own ability to find customers. Well, if you can relate to that, then this course is definitely for you. Because I want to persuade you that, yes, you do have the ability not only to create something that people genuinely want, but you can also successfully sell it to them. And so in this course we're going to look at the whole process of creating and selling a digital product. Right from the beginning where we come up with our idea, moving on through implementing it, and then going all the way right through to how you can market it and actually sell it to people. So if you've been contemplating creating a product, but maybe have felt a little bit hesitant to actually take the first step, then my goal in this course is to give you confidence and the understanding you need in order to get started on the road to becoming an entrepreneur. So let's take a quick look now, at the big picture of what we'll be learning in this course.

Building an Audience
Hi, my name's Mark Heath, and in this module we'll talk about Building An Audience, how can you connect with potential customers of your product? Now given that in the last module we talked about how to come up with a great idea for your product, you might think that the next logical step would be simply to get on with creating it. But there's something I want us to consider before we look at implementation, and that's the importance of starting to build an audience as early as possible. So in this module, we'll look at several different tactics that you can use in order to make connections with potential customers, and then we'll focus in on two in particular. The first is creating a website that you can use to help market your product and build an audience, and the second is email marketing, and so we'll look at what benefits that offers and how you can get started with it.

Selling Your Product
Hi, my name's Mark Heath, and in this module, we're going to look at how you can go about actually selling your digital product. So what are we going to cover in this module? Well, we'll start off by addressing the issue of how you can take payments from your customers, and we'll see that there's quite a few different options available to you for doing this. And we'll see some examples of people who've chosen different approaches. Then, we'll discuss some important considerations to take into account with regards to payments. These include topics you'd probably prefer not to think about, like taxes and refunds. But you shouldn't ignore these sorts of things or you could wind up in trouble along the road. And finally, we'll look at pricing your products. How do you know what price to charge? We'll look at various pricing strategies and hacks that you might want to experiment with. And again, we'll look at some real-world examples to illustrate them. So let's get started.

Launching and Marketing
Hi, my name's Mark Heath, and in this module we'll be talking about launching and marketing your product. So in the last two modules, we looked at creating your product and deciding how you're going to sell it online, but what's next? Well, if you've done all that, then you're finally ready to launch your product and start attracting your first customers. And so in this module, we'll start off by answering the question should I do anything special to launch my product? And we'll see that the answer is yes, you should. We'll look at several things you can do to generate a buzz around your product and we'll be learning from some real-world stories of effective product launches and focusing in particular on creating an email launch sequence. And then we'll move on to talk about what you can do after the initial launch of your product in order to gain a bit more traction. And we'll try to answer the question what can I do to attract more customers to my product page? We'll discuss several things you can try and focus in particular on advertising and see what potential benefits, as well as pitfalls await you if you try to make use of advertising. So let's get started.

Monitoring
Hi, my name's Mark Heath, and in this module, we'll be looking at various ways in which you can monitor your product after you've launched it. We'll start off by looking at what a sales funnel is and what steps are involved in the process of someone visiting your site from the first time to becoming a happy customer. And then we'll look at several ways that you can gather the metrics you need to understand how well your sales funnel is converting. And this information will help you to make the necessary improvements to maximize the number of sales you're making. So let's get started.

What Next?
Hi, my name's Mark Heath, and in this final module of our course on Creating and Selling a Digital Product, we'll ask the question, what's next? And in this course, we've been looking at the whole process of creating and selling a digital product. We started off with how to come up with an idea, and then got to work building connections with potential customers, and then moved on to implementing our idea. Next, we looked at how you could actually sell your product, and some techniques for launching and marketing it, as well as ways that you can monitor the effectiveness of your sales funnel. And so we'll wrap things up in this final brief module by discussing what you should do next if you've done all of these things. And I want to provide answers to two main questions in this module. First, should you continue to work at improving your product and trying to increase sales, or should you move on and start building your next product instead? And second, is there a point at which it makes sense to retire your product and stop selling it? And as we've done throughout this course, we'll be drawing on some real world stories to help us answer these questions.
