Throughout these lessons, we'll learn how to come up with our own design for a sci-fi prop without using any references. We'll begin by setting up Blender for fast access to modeling tools and continue with blocking out and defining major shapes of our prop. Finally, we'll quickly set up the lighting and some materials to make sure all our parts are visible in the final render. The purpose of this tutorial is to teach you how to brainstorm and quickly design a prop, which will help you become a faster and better modeler and designer. Software required: Blender 2.74.

Introduction and Project Overview
Hi. My name is Denis Osmanbegovic. Currently, I am an environment artist at 343 Industries working on Halo 5. In this course we're going to model a sci-fi prop without using any reference or concept art. Some of the key takeaways from watching this course will include modeling tricks for fast workflow, thinking about design and function, and training yourself to come up with cool design on the fly. By the end of the training you will have a great understanding about what it takes to create a pretty solid sci-fi prop. I'm pretty excited to work with Digital-Tutors and share these techniques with you. So let's get started with the first lesson.
