Course Overview
Hi everyone. My name is Tim Boles, and welcome to my course, Effective Reporting with Power BI. I'm a senior manager of database services at Hitachi Consulting. I've been working with data for over 20 years. John Tukey once stated, "The greatest value of a picture is when it forces us to notice what we never expected. " Power BI gives us the ability to take a variety of data sources and allow the viewer to see the story the data tells through pictures we create. In this course, you'll learn how to create the right visualization to bring out the story your data tells, create interactive reports that allows the user to explore the data through cross-highlighting, filtering, and drilling down into the data, and you'll learn how to create BI reports based on simple guidelines for best practices. By the end of this course, you'll have a firm understanding of how to use Power BI to build compelling visualizations, produce reports, and build dashboards. Before beginning the course, you should be familiar with some terminology in data modeling, analytics, and visualizations. From here, you should be comfortable diving into all the other Power BI services with courses on Power BI Playbook: Securing Shared Data with Power BI and the Retrieve, Transform, and Combine Data using Power Query. I hope you'll join me on this journey to learn how to create compelling Power BI reports with the Effective Reporting with Power BI course, at Pluralsight.
