By keeping all of their products beautifully simple and yet incredibly robust Tableau is quickly becoming the Business Intelligence platform of choice for anyone wanting to compete in today's markets. Tableau Server is the enterprise platform for modern companies looking to see and understand their data like never before. This course covers everything you need to get up and running with Tableau Server in your enterprise.
I work as a feedback mechanism for organizations and teams to help them understand what’s going on with their products and processes. I do this by collecting and organizing their data, visually exploring it, enriching it with other data and metrics, then presenting my findings using creative information design techniques. This leads to improved business performance and often sparks a data-driven culture throughout my clients organizations.
The Basics Hi, this is Ben Sullins and welcome to Enterprise Business Intelligence with Tableau Server. In this course, I'm going to start off talking about the installation and configuration process for Tableau Server. We'll get into authoring and deploying stuff so you can understand how users interact with Tableau Server. I'll cover the Tableau Data Server, which allows us that single source of the truth that we're all seeking. And we'll get after some taxonomies. These are the ways that we can implement Tableau for our users to organize the content and make sure things don't become too messy or difficult to manage. We'll get into the advanced concepts later with high availability and then customizing Tableau Server to fit your enterprise needs. Let's get started. In this first module, I'm going to talk about the features and specs of Tableau, get into some technical details and some of the reasons why we would use Tableau. I'll go through an architecture overview so you can understand the different pieces and how they fit together. We'll talk about all the individual processes that run Tableau Server. We'll get into a demo of actually installing and configuring it, and lastly, we'll go through a demo of authoring and deploying steps to Tableau Server. Let's get started.
Intermediate Welcome to the Intermediate module on Enterprise Business Intelligence with Tableau Server. In this one, we're going to talk about the Data Server, which is how we can create that single source of the truth and the taxonomies for Tableau Server, which is how we organize that content. We'll start with the review of Tableau Server's architecture. We'll look at the features of Tableau's Data Server, I'll actually show you and walk through some examples of using the Data Server from an end-user's standpoint and from an IT standpoint. We'll look at the taxonomies and all the different options we have there. And then we'll talk about implementing your taxonomy in Tableau Server and how to actually make it a reality.
Advanced Welcome to the Advanced module on Enterprise Business Intelligence Using Tableau Server. In this module we're going to talk about High Availability & Customizing Tableau Server. If you recall, we've covered the installation and configuration and authoring and deploying to Tableau Server in our Basics module. In our Intermediate module, we talked about Data Server, creating that single source of the truth, and the taxonomies, the ways we can organize content on Tableau Server. Now in this module, we're going to cover high availability, customizing Tableau Server, and some backup and administration functions as well. To start off, I'll talk about understanding high availability. We'll do a walkthrough of configuring high availability. I'll actually show you the customization options, the ones that are out of the box imported by Tableau, and some that aren't supported, some additional customizations I've implemented at many different clients that have really helped leverage all the horsepower and get every last bit of value out of Tableau Server. We'll go through a demo of customizing Tableau Server. And finally we'll go through some backup automation, including tab admin which is the command line utility we use for a lot of administrative functions and including automating a lot of them. Let's get started.
