This course introduces web developers to the Mapbox JavaScript API, a fully featured, flexible alternative to the Google Maps API. Mapbox provides both tile-based and vector maps (a point of difference from the Google Maps API). Developers will learn how to add maps to their applications, how to alter the visual style of the maps, how to overlay a variety of geospatial data on the maps, and how to implement features requiring interactivity.
About the author
Alex Korban is an author and independent consultant with an interest in functional programming, databases, and geospatial applications. He's written several books about C++11 and C++14. Alex co-founded a company to visualize geospatial data for the heavy construction industry in order to improve safety and productivity when building highways, tunnels, and other infrastructure. Prior to that he worked on a wide range of software, such as early mobile applications, a flight simulator, and GPS-base... mored vehicle fleet tracking and guidance software for construction machinery, including bulldozers, excavators, and self-driving kerb laying machines.
