Throughout these lessons, we will take a comprehensive look at how you can efficiently use AOVs and Renderpasses to create believable composites. We will start with a general overview of the most commonly used AOVs and Renderpasses and get a thorough understanding of what they are and how they work. We will then quickly dive into more advanced techniques by putting a big focus on troubleshooting and problem solving. Eventually, we will apply the techniques we learned on a small exercise to integrate an old and rusty CG car into a filmed plate. Software required: NUKE 9.0v7.

Introduction and Project Overview
Hi everyone, My name is Julius Ihle. I'm a lighting and Lookdev TD at Double Negative. Some of my recent projects include Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant Man, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two. In this course we are going to take a look at AOV manipulation techniques in Nuke. Knowing how you can efficiently use AOVs to your advantage is key to creating stunning images. This course is designed for both 3D artists and compositors who might already have a basic understanding of render passes but want to take their skills to the next level. Some of the key takeaways from watching this course include learning how to further develop a 3D asset in the composite, utilize data and take AOVs to create mats, fine tuning specific parts of rendering, and getting an understanding of when you can make tweaks in a composite versus when you should consider re-rendering. By the end of the training you will have a thorough understanding of how to manipulate 3D renderings in the composite to enhance the look and to blend them seamlessly with live action plates. I'm excited to share these tips and techniques with you. So let's get started with the first lesson.
