In an agile world, employing the same evolutionary approaches to databases as is applied to the application is more necessary than ever. This course brings an agile methodology to databases using Azure DevOps to create agile database deployments.
Agile methodologies have radically changed application development. Databases now need to continually evolve along with our applications, especially with the focus on highly iterative, micro-service driven architectures. In this course, Deploying Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse and Azure SQL Database, you will learn foundational knowledge to create and deploy databases as part of a CI/CD process. First, you'll learn to create new Azure SQL Databases, Azure Data Warehouses, and Azure Data Factory resources along with creating ARM templates for each resource. Next, you’ll learn how to set up build and release pipelines with Azure DevOps to automatically provision new resources using ARM templates and deploying data warehouse or SQL database using data-tier application packages (DACPAC). Finally, you'll explore how to migrate existing on-premises SQL Server Databases to Azure using Azure Migrate Service, or keeping your on-premises databases automatically synchronized with Azure SQL Databases using Azure Data Sync. When you’re finished with this course, you will have the skills and knowledge to use Azure DevOps to deploy both Azure SQL Data Warehouses and Azure SQL Databases as part of your Agile processes.
Course Overview Hello. My name is Robert Lindley, and welcome to my course, Deploying Microsoft Azure Data Warehouse and Azure SQL Databases. I currently work as a software architect for a global body camera and in-car police video security solutions company. I have a long history of building cloud-based applications, and I am especially passionate about creating software that has a positive impact in people's lives. In this course, you'll be learning how to leverage the Azure DevOps capabilities to create continuous integration and continuous deployment setups of Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Data Warehouse resources. You will be learning the basic concepts of how to create Azure DevOps organizations, projects, and repositories. You will also be learning how to use Azure DevOps to create and manage CI and CD releases for Azure resources, specifically Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Data Warehouses, and Azure Data Factory. Some of the major topics we'll cover include managing data lifecycle using the Azure Data Factory and creating data ingestion systems from data stores to SQL Database or SQL Warehouse. This is especially important when building complex applications or for your machine-learning or IOT endeavors. By the end of this course, you will know enough about Azure DevOps to confidently create and manage your own source control systems, and you'll be able to create release pipelines for modern data warehousing solutions. Before beginning this course, you should probably be familiar with the basics of the Azure Portal and have an active Azure subscription. I really hope you'll join me on this journey to learn how to use Azure DevOps to create and manage modern data warehouses, along with automating data deployments, in this course, Deploying Microsoft Azure Data Warehouse and Azure SQL Database, here at Pluralsight.
