Course Overview
Hi everyone. My name is Jeff Hopper, and welcome to my course, Microsoft Azure Developer: Managing Azure SQL Database. I am a solution developer with 20 years' experience helping companies solve their technology challenges. Data persistence is at the core of every line of business application, and while some companies may have a dedicated database administrator, in many smaller companies, the developer wears many hats, including database administrator. Azure has provided some great services and tools to help in the development and management of hosted SQL Server databases. In this course, we are going to specifically look at Azure SQL Databases. Some of the major topics that we will cover include creating an Azure SQL Database instance and managing the schema of that instance. I will also show you how to secure the database, along with auditing the user's activities. I will then wrap up with monitoring and managing the database performance. By the end of this course, you'll know how to manage an Azure SQL Database, persisting and securing your ever-changing application's information. Before beginning the course, you should be familiar with creating Azure resources and have had experience with SQL Server and are aware of the benefits of using a relational database. I hope you'll join me on this journey to learn Azure's SQL Database with the Microsoft Azure Developer: Managing Azure SQL Database course, at Pluralsight.
