Course Overview
Hi everyone, my name is Tim Boles, and welcome to my course, OCP 12c Performing Backup and Recovery Using the New Features of RMAN. I'm an Oracle database administrator with over 17 years' experience, and a manager of Oracle and SQL Server DBA services for Hitachi Consulting. If you're looking to review topics for the OCP upgrade to Oracle Database 12c exam, or just curious about the new features that Oracle 12c brings to RMAN, this is where you want to be. In this course, we're going to take an in-depth look at the exam topics that deal with the new features of Oracle 12c and what they bring to the backup and recovery, particularly for the RMAN tool, as well as snapshot technologies. Some of the major topics that we will cover include performing complete backups and recoveries in the multitenant architecture, performing partial recoveries of pluggable databases, including individual tables, investigating the new SYSBACKUP user and the privileges it uses, and the features you can use to improve the performance of your RMAN tasks. By the end of this course, you'll have a firm understanding of RMAN and the topics that could be covered in the OCP 12c upgrade exam. Before beginning this course, you should be familiar with the utilization of RMAN in previous versions of Oracle, and I would suggest reviewing the first course in this series, OCP Upgrade to Oracle Database 12c Management. From here, you should be comfortable diving into the more advanced RMAN courses from Pluralsight like Oracle Database 12c Disaster Recovery and Data Movement from Tim Warner. I hope you'll join me on this journey to learn the new features of RMAN in Oracle 12c with the OCP 12c Performing Backup and Recovery Using New Features of RMAN course at Pluralsight.
