Throughout this AutoCAD tutorial, we'll explore the use of 2D drafting tools to produce a professional commercial site design with civil engineering plan production. We'll start by using an appropriate drawing template for civil engineering projects using the US Imperial dimensional units, and we'll also reference our existing conditions survey that is set to a real-world coordinate system. We'll then pull in the project architect's building design and begin laying out the surrounding site features such as sidewalks, access drives, and parking areas. We'll finish by setting up a plan sheet, dimensioning the site features, adding text and leader annotations and plotting our plans to PDF files. By the end of this AutoCAD training, you'll have a strong focus on drafting and design efficiency by using the appropriate AutoCAD draw or modify tools for the job at hand. Software required: AutoCAD 2015.

Introduction and Project Overview [Autogenerated] Hi, everyone. My name's Curtis Smith. I'm a licensed professional civil engineer, Gresham Smith and Partners, Full service, architecture and engineering firm with my duties include both cat development support, but also much day to day civil engineering test. This is my first session here. This is serious, and I'm delighted to share my professional knowledge with you all in this session, we're gonna learn how to use auto cad too quickly and efficiently turn an owner's hand sketch into a professional grade two dimensional layout designed for a commercial site development project. Some of the key takeaways from watching this course include learning how to set up project files appropriately for a civil engineering project. Use several different auto cad drawing modified tools to find the quickest, most efficient workflow for you. We use layers. Next, Colonel reference files in a similar fashion as a multi member professional design team would we'll set up in an take plan cheese so that they're ready for contractors build from By the end of the session, you'll be well on your way to understand how a project is produced in a professional setting. If you're already a professional in the industry and you're just looking a brush up on your skills and hopefully you'll find some takeaways for some new tips and tricks to increase your efficiency. Become a better drafter, designer or engineer. I'm very excited to work with digital tutors and share these techniques with you, so let's get started with the first lesson.
