Introduction and Project Overview
Hello, my name is Sunder with Digital-Tutors, a Houdini Training partner. In this series of lessons, we will get an introductory look at Python programming in Houdini. Python is a very powerful and popular programming language and it's poised to replace H Script in Houdini. We're going to get started by learning how to run Python commands from the shell within Houdini, and how to build functions, and even how to access modules to get access to more commands. We will learn how to manipulate our Houdini Single Python Code and eventually we'll use this knowledge to build our first shelf tool based on Python. The shelf tool will be able to break up single text into individual letter objects. It's going to be a very simple, but efficient time-saving tool, especially when it comes to 3D text animation. This short training session is a great way to get started with Python and Houdini, and will get you on the road to developing your own tools. With that, let's go ahead and begin.
