Description
Many people are familiar with using blockchain for cryptocurrencies, but there is increased interest in using this technology in enterprise applications. In this course, Building an Enterprise Private Blockchain on Salesforce you'll learn how to leverage blockchain technology with Salesforce. First, you’ll learn the principles of blockchain technology, and the difference between a public and private blockchain. Next, you'll learn how private blockchains can be used to create immutable, secure ledgers that can prove transactions, while still keeping data confidential; a key requirement in many enterprises. Finally, you’ll see how to implement this kind of scenario on Salesforce using Apex, the native language of the Salesforce platform. By the end of this course, you'll know about the role of blockchain in the enterprise, with specific examples on the Salesforce platform.

Course Overview
Blockchain is without doubt the most significant technology advancement in recent years. It has the ability to enable trusted transactions of every kind; from cryptocurrency to smart contracts, to things nobody has thought of yet. We know this is true because it's been generating vast amounts of media and news along with massive investment by the smartest investors and venture capital firms. The only way they could possibly be wrong would be if Blockchain were just another in a long list of overhyped technologies that gets people very excited for a while, results in a lot of failed startups, and ultimately becomes just another technology to be used only where it's truly appropriate. My name is Dan Appleman. I'm a Salesforce MVP, and the author of the book: Advanced Apex Programming, and I am a Blockchain skeptic; and that's a good thing. Because you're not going to find in this course vague promises of how Blockchain might someday be applied at the enterprise level, or yet another explanation of cryptocurrencies, along with hints of how you can make a fortune with them, or warnings of how it's all one big Ponzi scheme. I mean, who knows, by the time you watch this course, we may already know how that one turns out. This course is the consequence of one simple question: is there a legitimate and compelling use-case for Blockchain technology in the enterprise, specifically on the Salesforce platform, and if so, is it possible to implement a solution natively on the platform? Rather to my surprise, the answer to both turned out to be yes. This course is the answer to that question. You'll learn the basics of Blockchain technology, and a specific set of use-cases that not only make sense by are quite compelling, and you'll find a Blockchain implementation, real working code for those of you who are software developers to build on. Join me as I share with you my own journey of discovery learning about building a private enterprise Blockchain on Salesforce.
