What you'll learn

When creating human models in 3D, noses are obviously one of the most prominent features of the face. For this reason it's important to understand how noses can be built and sculpted in order to realistically complete a human model. Noses are physically not that large, but between the bone and cartilage they have a very interesting structure. In this Mudbox tutorial, we will go over those basic nose structures - the elements that come together to make a nose look like a nose. We'll then cover some quick and easy ways in Mudbox to block out and sculpt those structures. We'll learn to retopologize the nose to get a litter cleaner base and then use a variety of sculpting brushes to finish out the nose. In the end, you'll have a better understanding of the structure of the nose and you'll be much more comfortable creating and sculpting noses for your human characters. Software required: Mudbox 2014.
