Course Overview (Music) Hi everyone welcome to Pluralsight. My name is Greg Dickinson and welcome to my course Patching SharePoint Server 2016. I'm a network engineer at a bank in my home state of Alabama. I've been playing with computers longer than I'd really like to admit. I've always had a love of technology and a passion to see this technology efficiently applied to business processes to make everyone's jobs easier. This course is an overview of the zero downtime patching process that Microsoft recommends for a highly available SharePoint environment. Using this patching process on a properly configured environment will ensure that patches can be applied without impacting user access. Some of the major topics that we will cover include a brief review of the different server types in a SharePoint farm. The process to back up a SharePoint farm to plan for the worst. Patching each of the server types on th farm and verifying that the patches were properly applied to the farm. By the end of this course you'll have an understanding of the patching process in the SharePoint Server 2016 environment. Before beginning the course you should be comfortable with the Windows Server OS, and the basic concepts of installing software in the GUI. A working knowledge of PowerShell will also help. I hope you'll join me on this journey to learn SharePoint patching with the Patching SharePoint Server 2016 course at Pluralsight.
