Throughout these lessons we'll familiarize you with the Bullet physics system in Maya 2015. We'll learn how to shatter a statue into over 2,000 pieces, primarily using the Rigid Body Sets feature. Introduction and Project Overview Hi, everyone. My name is Peter Gend. I'm a professor of 3D digital design and a freelance CGI artist. Some of my most recent projects include the Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Discovery Channel's Shark Week, as well as my ongoing work with rapid prototyping and dynamic simulations pipeline design. In this course, we're going to learn how to create a believable shatter effect using Bullet Physics. We're going to start with an introduction to Bullet in Maya, and then we're going to jump right into our main project. Some of the key takeaways from watching this course include learning both the basic and advanced features of the Bullet Physics system, learning how to shatter a model in Real Flow using driving geometry, understanding how to work with multiple rigid sets, and caching out our simulation as an alembic file. In addition to that, to enhance our final simulation, we're also going to learn how to use particles and fluids with our alembic cache. By the end of this training, you're going to have learned the skills to use the Bullet system efficiently, as well as have a solid understanding of how we can produce a shattering effect using rigid sets in Bullet.
