Description
The ability to replay a production database workload in controlled circumstances can be very useful for testing, in both functionality and performance testing. In this course, Simulating Production Workloads with SQL Server Distributed Replay, you will learn how Distributed Replay offers a way to replay a workload from multiple clients, preserving the order of operations in the process. First, you will go through the setup of Distributed Replay (DReplay). Next, you will explore all the necessary configurations in order to capture, process, and run a replay. Finally, you will discover options for monitoring the effects of running the trace. Course Overview
Hi everyone, my name's Gail Shaw, welcome to my course: Simulating Production Workloads with SQL Server Distributed Replay. I'm a technical lead in the data solutions division at Entelect Software. The ability to recreate a production database's workload on another server is an incredibly useful tool to have, and that's something that SQL Server's Distributed Replay makes very easy. In this course, we're going to learn how to set up and use the Distributed Replay feature. Some of the major topics that we will cover include how to install and configure Distributed Replay, how to capture and preprocess a workload, and how to replay that workload against another server and monitor the results. By the end of this course, you'll be familiar with Distributed Replay, and ready to use it in your own environment. Before starting this course, you should be familiar with SQL Server's Profiler tool. I hope that you'll join me on this journey to learn about distributed replay, with the Simulating Production Workloads with SQL Server Distributed Replay course, here at Pluralsight.
