In this course, Substance Designer Fundamentals, you'll learn the most important fundamental basics of Substance Designer, creating a fully procedural tileable brick material. Hi everyone, my name is Karen and welcome to my course Substance Designer Fundamentals.

I am currently an Environment Artist at Sony’s London Studio.

Substance designer is being Widley adopted by almost every AAA studio across the world.

In this course, we are going to go learn the most important fundamental basics of substance designer, creating a fully procedural tileable brick material.

Some of the major topics that we will cover include:

  • Setting up a new project using templates
  • Looking at the most important nodes whilst creating our brick material
  • Optimising our graph to be used in other applications
  • Exporting and saving out our textures
By the end of this course you’ll be comfortable navigating around substance and using the node based system whilst having made your very first material.

Before beginning this course you should be familiar with creating textures for physically based game shaders.
