Description

In this set of ZBrush tutorials, we will build a cartoon scientist. Sometimes cartoon characters are difficult to create using ZBrush due to their smooth surfaces. This training will cover how to keep your surfaces clean and your edges tight. We will go over how to use larger shapes to block your character in. Then we cover how to add features like eyes and feathers. By the end of this tutorial, you should have a good understanding of how to create your own simple, clean, fully colored cartoon character. Software required: ZBrush 4R6.

Introduction and Project Overview
Hello there. I'm Shane Olson. I am a digital sculptor and game developer based in the U. S. I've been working in the game industry for 15 years. Currently, I'm working as a Senior Character Artist at Disney Interactive where I've had the opportunity to work on Disney Infinity. During this course, we will be exploring different methods of creating a full cartoon character with ZBrush. We will be covering methods like how to utilize insert brushes, clipping brushes and a brand new Z remesher. We will start by interpreting a concept image, while coming up with our own design ideas. We will then block out our character using large shapes. After that, we will add new parts using insert mesh brushes. We will also learn how to add simple cloth wrinkles and poly paint to our character. Lastly, we will cover the new Z remesher and pose our character to a transpose master. I love making cartoon characters with ZBrush and I'm always excited to share my techniques with you. So, sign up or sign in and let's get to it!
