Course Overview
Hi everyone. My name is Shaila Rana, and I'm the founder of CyberSecure, a security training and awareness consulting firm. Welcome to my course, Security Governance: CCPA. Are you a California citizen or do you work for a business that has to be compliant with the CCPA? If you do, then this is definitely the course for you. Some of the major topics that we will cover include data rights, how to exercise those rights, and penalties of noncompliance. In this course, you will learn who is affected, what data is affected by this privacy law, and the rights of a California consumer. Next, you'll learn about the differences between the CCPA and GDPR. We'll also talk about Prop 24, which just passed in November 2020. Then, you'll learn about required notices businesses have to provide. And then finally, you'll learn how California consumers can exercise their data rights and the penalties of noncompliance for businesses that are subject to comply with the CCPA. By the end of this course, you'll understand data rights, required notices, and penalties of noncompliance. As of January 1, 2020, the California Consumer Privacy Act went into effect. Organizations that utilize and harvest consumer information now have to conduct business in a different way to remain compliant. Citizens of California also must understand their rights and protect their data. I hope you'll join me in this journey to learn about data privacy under the California Consumer Privacy Act.
