Introduction and Project Overview
Hello, my name is Eddie Russell, and I've had the privilege of teaching Maya and Mari to thousands of artists and educators at top studios and universities for years. And this specific, high-level course was designed to give you a glimpse at how we used Mari and RenderMan for Maya to create the textures and materials used for a short that appeared at SIGGRAPH, which is comprised of live action and animation. The objectives for this fast-paced course will be to give you a glimpse at the pipeline that was used between Mari and RenderMan for Maya. We won't go through this process step by step, but we'll give you insight into the various challenges, techniques, and considerations that were taken for specific assets on this project. We'll also talk about important things to remember as you create your own shots similar to this one. Before we start, I recommend you have experience using Mari, Maya, and RenderMan for Maya, as some of the topics we'll be covering will be intermediate to advanced in nature. If you're an artist who is new to any of these applications, we have a number of courses and learning paths in our library that will help you to get up and running quickly. With that, let's go ahead and get started with the next lesson.
