Introduction and Project Overview
Hello, this is Jay Boucher. I'm a freelance illustrator and web designer. I spent about 8 years working at mtv. com making sites for shows like Pimp My Ride, Celebrity Death Match, and Wonder Showzen even. In this course, we're going to create a custom WordPress theme using child themes and CSS. Some of the key takeaways from watching this course include learning how to create a child theme in WordPress, which allows you to piggyback onto a preexisting theme so you don't have to build an entire theme from scratch, but it also gives you some customization options. You're going to learn the basics of how WordPress sites are structured. We're going to learn the basics of Cascading Style Sheets and how you can dig into the code to customize your own site. And we're going to learn a little bit about responsive design so that your sites look good on both desktop and mobile devices. By the end of this training, you will have learned how to customize a theme in WordPress to suit your style, because I know you're quite stylish. And I'm really excited to work with Digital Tutors. I've been building sites in WordPress and customizing for clients, and I'm really excited to share these techniques with you. So, let's get started with the first lesson.
