Course Overview
Hello and welcome. I'm Kevin Miller, an independent senior IT management consultant and a certified change practitioner and project manager. Prior to developing a change management plan, you should have a strategy. And prior to formulating a strategy, you should understand how well the people and the organization are prepared for change. In this course, Change Management: Evaluating Impact and Organizational Readiness, you will learn how to gather the information you need to formulate a solid change management strategy. This course is the second in a series on the discipline of change management. While no prior change management experience is required, you may want to take a look at the first course in this series, Change Management: Getting Started, to ensure you have a good handle on the concepts. In this course, I'm going to cover how to set the stage for change. You'll learn about the process of change management, how to define a change, determine why it is required, and set the finish line by identifying goals, objectives, and success criteria. I'm also going to explain how to properly identify change personnel, including the right change sponsors accountable for the change and stakeholders impacted by the change. I'll even provide some guidance on how to handle a situation where you have the wrong sponsor. The bulk of this course is on how to perform nine assessments. I'll explain what they are and even show you how to complete the templates I've included in this course, which you can download and start using in your current job right away. By the end of this course you'll have the skills, knowledge, and templates to gather all of the information necessary to formulate a change management strategy. This course will also help prepare you for the CCMP exam administered by the Association of Change Management Professionals. From here, continue your learning by watching the other courses in the Change Management series. I hope you'll join me on this journey to learn how to evaluate impact and organizational readiness for a change at Pluralsight.
