Course Overview
Hey, everyone. Welcome to my course, Change Management: Getting Started. My name is Kevin Miller. I am an independent senior IT management consultant and a certified change practitioner and project manager. Have you ever experienced a poorly executed change at work? Have you ever tried to lead a change, but everyone resisted. Your organization wants to win in business, but when change isn't properly managed, everyone loses. Change management is all about managing the people side of change. A completely functional project, delivered under budget and ahead of schedule, can still fail if no one adopts the new ways of working. This course is a beginner's guide, and the first in a series to help you learn more about the discipline of change management, so no prior change management experience is required. In this course, I'm going to cover the basics of change management, you'll learn what it is, why it's important, where it comes from, and the recent trends in the discipline. I'm even going to provide a few experts to follow on social media. I'm also going to explain the seven core concepts of change management, which will demystify the discipline. This includes a section on why only managing the triple constraints of a project is simply not enough to guarantee success. If you want to become an expert or are responsible for hiring change management professionals, I'm going to tell you about the top change management certification. I'll review why industry standard certifications are important, the benefit they provide, and go over the steps you should take if you want to earn it. By the end of this course, you will have a solid foundation of knowledge on the change management discipline and its core concepts, which will ease your certification journey, should you decide to take one. From here, continue your learning by watching the other courses in the Change Management series. I hope you'll join me on this journey to learn the basics about change management with the Change Management: Getting Started course, at Pluralsight.
