Installing and configuring the new OS X El Capitan operating system on your Mac can be tricky, but this course is here to help. In macOS X Support: Installation and Configuration, you'll learn all you need to know to get yourself started, and you'll be able to prepare for the first section of the Apple Certified Support Professional (ASCP) examination. First, you'll learn about the upgrade or installation, the initial configuration, and setting up user accounts. Next, you'll cover the OS X Recovery System and its utilities. Finally, you'll learn how Mac software updates work. By the end of this course, you will have the knowledge you need to do well on the first section of the ASCP examination, as well as the skills necessary to easily install or update your Mac to the OS X El Capitan operating system.

Course Overview
Hi everyone. My name is Herta Nava, and I would like to welcome you to my course, Mac OS X Support: Installation and Configuration. I am an independent consultant working on a variety of exciting projects, such as software localization, web technologies, and online marketing. I am also a very enthusiastic author at Pluralsight. Mac support is a widely searched skilled in the Enterprise world. More and more companies are now supporting Mac, and therefore, it is a very important skill that help desks, service technicians, and technical coordinators would want to develop. On the other hand, this course is the first in a series of courses that will lead to passing the Apple Certified Support Professional certification examination offered by Apple. Some of the major topics that we will cover include the installation or upgrading to the OS X El Capitan, including all the steps to follow when performing an upgrade or a clean installation. The initial configuration where we will see the options you will be presented with when configuring a Mac. The OS X recovery system, and the utilities it has for you to perform a variety of recovery activities, and how OS X software updates work in Mac. By the end of this course you will know how to upgrade a Mac to the OS X El Capitan or how to perform a clean installation. You will also know how to configure the newly installed or upgraded Mac, either through the initial configuration or by performing a post install configuration. Before beginning this course you should have basic skills on OS X, and have a Mac computer. You should also have access to the OS X El Capitan, either have the installer or be able to download it.
