Course Overview Hello everyone. My name is Eddie Russell, and welcome to this Maya 2019 Fundamentals course. I'm an author evangelist for Pluralsight, and I've been creating courses for over nine years now. I'll be your guide in this second course in the Maya 2019 Fundamentals series as you learn the importance of UVs, materials, and textures in a Maya production pipeline. In this course, we'll pick up right where you left off with Justin in the modeling of your drone asset from the first course in this series. Our first focus will be to introduce you to the concept of UVs and their importance to assets that utilize painted texture maps. From there, we'll begin progressing through a number of important topics while UVing our asset including projection mapping, cutting, sewing and stitching, overlapping UVs, and the final layout of our UVs. Next, we'll shift our attention to defining the surface qualities of each piece of our drone using materials. Expect to have a lot of fun in this module as it's here that your drone will begin looking much more realistic. Some of the major topics covered here will include creating and applying materials, using material presets, constructing shading networks to achieve more complex looks, and Maya's color management system. After finishing this course, you should feel comfortable creating your own UV layouts and materials to define the look of your assets.
