Description

During this tutorial, we will build a cartoon bird with ZBrush. Sometimes cartoon characters are difficult to create using ZBrush due to their smooth surfaces. This training will cover how to keep your surfaces clean, and your edges tight. We will go over how to use larger shapes to block your character in. Then we cover how to add features like eyes and feathers. By the end of this tutorial, you should have a good understanding of how to create your own simple, clean, fully colored cartoon character. Software required: ZBrush 4R5.

Introduction and Project Overview
Hi everyone, my name is Shane Olson. I am a senior character artist at Avalanche Studios. I'm currently working on Disney Infinity. During this course, we will be exploring different methods of cartoon character creation with ZBrush. We will start by talking about large shapes and how to use them to block out our character. Then, we will use qRemesher to rebuild our base mesh. Next we will talk about different detailing techniques, as well as keeping everything smooth and clean. Finally, we will learn how to add color using polypaint. Then we'll add a little bit of FiberMesh for the finishing touches. I love making characters with ZBrush, and am excited to share these techniques with you. So, let's get started.
