Splines are some of the most powerful objects in Cinema 4D, let alone the most versatile. They can drive everyday tasks like modeling and animation; but did you know you can also use them as textures? In this course, Using Splines in Cinema 4D, you'll learn how to use the spline object in Cinema 4D. First, you'll explore the many types and anatomy of splines. Next, you'll dive into how to use them for modeling and animation. Finally, you'll learn some other less conventional yet powerful ways that use splines in practice. By the end of this course, you'll have an intimate understanding of splines in Cinema 4D, and you'll know how to begin implementing them to improve your own Cinema 4D production pipeline. Software required: Cinema 4D.

Course Overview
Hi everyone, my name is Lars Scholten, and welcome to my course, Using Splines in CINEMA 4D. I am a freelance CG artist based in Amsterdam, as well as a lead instructor for CINEMA 4D in the Netherlands. In my projects, I use CINEMA 4D as the main tool for my 3D animations. I really like how versatile the software is, you can create just about anything from a 3D print to a virtual reality experience. This course is about splines in CINEMA 4D, one of the most powerful objects inside the software. With splines, you can create unique models, textures, and animations. In this course, you will first learn about the types and anatomy of splines, then we will start modeling and animating. After that, you will even learn how to use splines in materials. By the end of this course, you will have the knowledge to utilize splines inside your CINEMA 4D workflow. Before beginning the course, you should be familiar with the basic navigation inside CINEMA 4D. I hope you will join me on this journey to learn about splines with the Using Splines in CINEMA 4D course, at Pluralsight.

Spline Modeling Tools
In this module, we will model a lightbulb, and by doing so, I can introduce you to two more of the generator objects, the Lathe and the Sweep Object. Besides these generators, I also want to show you how we can draw some splines and edit them with a few of the spline modeling tools, like for instance the Chamfer, and Create Outline tool. Before we start though, it is useful to have some reference. Therefore, we will start off by creating an image plane, which we can use as a reference. That will be the subject of our next clip.
